Saturday September 5, 2020 was a historic day for Peruvian aviation and the long history of its airports. On this occasion, Wayra Peru flight WY 2156 was scheduled to depart at 8:30 am in a Fokker 70 with a 77-passenger configuration. The flight lasted 1 hour and 30 minutes to the Walter Braedt Segú aerodrome, which is in the Canoas de Punta Sal district in the department of Tumbes, located exactly on the border of Piura and Tumbes, 3km from the center of the resort. of Máncora.
The charter flight was very well received and marked a historic milestone as it was the first 77-passenger jet flight to land in the resort.
