After 30 years, this is the first year the airline has lost six billion dollars. corresponding for the financial year ended March 31, 2021.This is undoubtedly due to the restrictions decreed by the governments of different countries to fly. Therefore, the decrease in flights is noticeable.
As for revenues, they were 66% less than last year making a balance of 9,700 million USD.
Emirates Chairman and CEO Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said: “The COVID-19 pandemic continues to wreak havoc on people’s lives, communities, economies and the aviation and travel industry. In 2020-21, Emirates and dnata have been hit hard by falling demand for international air travel as countries closed their borders and imposed strict travel restrictions.”
