VOLARIS ARRIVES IN COLOMBIA IN OCTOBER
He announced this at a press conference today in Bogota.
The low-cost airline Volaris announced in a press conference held today at the
Anato Fair, that on October 6 it will make its arrival in Colombia, specifically at
the Eldorado airport in Bogota. You will have flights Bogotá-Mexico City and Bogotá-Cancun.
This will be the first time the airline will touch South American lands. Miguel Aguiñiga, Director
of Market Development at Volaris, was in charge of giving the good news.
The model proposed by Volaris is to start with two or three weekly frequencies, and from there
grow. The initial itineraries of the airline are:
Mexico City – Bogotá
Sunday, Monday and Friday.
Leaving Mexico City at 03.40, arriving in Bogotá at 08.14
Leaving Bogotá at 09.14, arriving in Mexico City at 13.48
Cancun – Bogotá
Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Leaving Cancun at 22.31, arriving in Bogotá at 01.55 (next day)
Leaving Bogotá at 02.55, arriving in Cancun at 06.24
Tickets will go on sale beginning June 23 and will be fareing from $89.99
each way, including taxes. Its sales channel will be the website www.volaris.com
Flights will be offered on Airbus family aircraft. Volaris currently has 89 aircraft of this type in its
fleet, of which 37% is Neo.
As a curious fact given by Mr. Aguiñiga in the press conference, is that 40% of its
flights compete directly with buses, since they handle similar prices.
According to Constanza Olaya Cantor, Deputy Minister in charge of Tourism of Colombia, this year 2021 her
office has worked the recovery of international air routes. “It is a
job with a view to reinforcing the path of safe economic recovery in Colombia and throughout Latin
America,” he said.
